How can I incorporate Russian cuisine into my wedding reception?

I was born in Russia, and so was all my family. However, it seems like most wedding reception halls serve either Italian or “continental” food. It is pretty important to me to incorporate part of my culture into the wedding. How can I do that without having my mom cook for the entire wedding?

  1. Find a better caterer. Or serve lots of premium vodka and black bread.

  2. See if the caterers will at least make borscht, which shouldn’t be too complex for them. Look in the eastern european community in your area for catering services or see if there is a favorite eastern restaurant in your area that will cater for you. There should be at least a few caterers out there who will cook to any cuisine you desire for an occassion as important as your wedding.
